Bidar, Jul 27: A great Jubilee of 150 years of the existence of the Apostolic Carmel congregation founded by the venerable Mother Veronica of the Passion was celebrated in earnest by both Apostolic Carmel sisters and Carmel Niketan recently.
The jubilee was celebrated by both the communities in some of the following ways: Sharing the charism of the Apostolic Carmel with all our students, hostel inmates, people of neighbouring parishes, feeding many poor families and beggars and adopting many families for their all round development, celebrating the widow’s day for 108 widows, entertaining special children in their residential school and sharing food and other good things with both these groups.
On the day itself, the Bidar deanery priests and sisters, students, hostel inmates, staff of Apostolic Carmel and diocesan institutions in the campus celebrated the event with a concelebrated Holy Eucharist by Fr Robert M Miranda, bishop of Gulbarga. Mother Veronica’s life, the Apostolic Carmel charism and the prayer and the selfless toil of the pioneering sisters of the Bidar mission and of those continue the mission in Mother Veronica’s spirit were highlighted during the celebration of the Mass at which over 500 people gathered. A well laid table for all the participants brought a finale to the day’s events.
