Bantwal, July 27: A woman living alone was robbed of gold ornaments and cash at knife point at her home at Kuriala here on Thursday July 26.

Police personnel who went to the spot for investigation after receiving complaint of robbery were told by the victim that a masked man holding a knife entered her house at about 10 am, and threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.

He gagged her with a piece of cloth and decamped with nearly 80 tolas of gold jewellery and cash stored inside the cupboard. Police took up investigation in the case immediately.

Meanwhile, a local news reporter, who suspected that it may be the handiwork of Shekar, a young local, informed about his gut feeling to the beat policeman. Police who swung into action, took Shekar into custody and brought him to the police station. Shekar is learnt to have confessed about his involvement with this crime. The rural police circle inspector here has reportedly recovered the stolen gold ornaments and cash from him.

Bantwal rural police station assistant sub-inspector, Ramesh, and others took part in the said operation.

    No worry...
    He will be out on the streets in 3 weeks. 35 years ago similar case culprit was apprehended and goods recovered on information from him as to where he had stashed them. He was out on bail in twenty thirty days and after three years declared not guilty as he was not caught in the act red-handed. All the time effort of police personnel family members wasted. This is the sad state of law in our country.
