Panaji, Oct 8: Chief Minister Digamber Kamat has said that the pace of development has increased during the year and this has been appreciated at the national level. The government has implemented various schemes to empower women in the state for which the state has received the prestigious IBN award this year, he added.
The chief minister was speaking at the orientation programme for junior craftsmen organized by the directorate of craftsman training at Krishi Bhavan in Panaji on Tuesday October 7, where he was a chief guest.
Kamat also said that the government was committed to providing additional infrastructure for the growth of women. Women should come forward in large numbers to start their own business. The course has been designed to impart necessary techniques to help women increase their income, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Vishwajeet Rane, minister for craftsmen training, said the state was the first to implement such a unique scheme. The government is planning to implement additional schemes in rural areas for which he asked the help of the public.
He said that self-help groups should be developed as income generating units. V R Tripathi, secretary, craftsman training, Aleixo F Da’Costa, director, craftsman training, and S S P Tendulkar, director of agriculture, graced the occasion.
Earlier, Pandurang Shet, technical officer welcomed the guests and Narayan Kudtarkar proposed the vote of thanks.
