Bengaluru, Jul 4: It has come to light that former minister and current BJP MLA representing  Hosadurga constituency, Goolihatti Shekhar, has been cheated to an extent of one crore rupees by a real estate agent relating to the sale of ten acres of land in Anekal taluk.

Shekhar filed a complaint in Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station here on June 26. He has named the accused as Bhagya, wife of Narayana Reddy from Yalachenahalli and her mother-in-law, Padmavathi. It is said that Shekhar, who is into granite business, was trying to acquire land in Anekal taluk sometime back when he was deceived.

The MLA stated in the complaint that he was introduced to Narayana Reddy by some middlemen. "Narayana Reddy promised to provide ten acres of land in Koodlu village of Anekal taluk for my granite stock yard two years ago. After I inspected the land located in survey No. 148, I found it suitable and expressed intention to buy it. I paid Rs 50 lac through RTGS transaction and Rs 50 lac in cash to Narayana Reddy.  I transferred money through Canara Bank and also by raising loan from private moneylenders. An agreement was signed by Reddy's wife, mother, and mother-in-law and a general power of attorney was also executed in my favour. But when checking the land documents provided to me later, they were found to be fake," he said.

Shekhar said that he contacted Reddy to get back the money but he responded by saying that he does not have any money. Therefore he has requested police to initiate legal action.
