Mangaluru, Jul 3: Moras Charitable Foundation distributed scholarships to 25 meritorious students in a programme held at Kuppepadav church auditorium on July 1.
Dr Bernard Moras, emeritus archbishop of Bengaluru and president of the trust, handed over the cheques to the 25 students.
Dr Richard Vincent D’souza, CEO of Hutti Gold Mine Company addressing the students, stressed on the importance of obtaining government jobs and entering into civil services.
Students were selected on the basis of family background, study pattern and their aim for the future. Students of all religions were included in the selection. During the programme, students introduced themselves and expressed their interest in studies and career goals.
Selected students for scholarships are pursuing secondary school, pre-university college and under-graduate studies. At the end of the programme students expressed explicitly that some of them wanted to become engineers, pharmacists, professional chefs, chartered accountants, teacher / lecturer, and even IAS officers and were interested to take up government jobs.
Moras Foundation initiated the activity of distributing scholarships with the intention of making a little difference in their life in small ways.
Moras Charitable Foundation took inception on August 16, 2016 during its golden jubilee of Archbishop Dr Emeritus Bernard Moras and priesthood in memory of late Francis Moras and Monthin Moras.
Moras Foundation also helps people in need and other than being a helping hand for career oriented, it also reaches out to health care and takes up social concerns.
Fr Edwin F Pinto, joint secretary and trustee of Moras Foundation compered the programme.
Trustees of foundation Joseph Moras, John Moras, Edmond Moras, Moras, Oswald Moras, Monica Pinto, Vijay Moras, Cruz Moras and church parish priest Fr Valerian D'Souza were present on the occasion.
