Udupi: Inquiry to begin from Jul 2 on curious murder case of Bhaskar Shetty

Udupi, Jul 2: The inquiry of witnesses in the infamous murder case of NRI entrepreneur Bhaskar Shetty will begin from Monday July 2 at the Udupi district and sessions court.

Out of the total 167 witnesses in the case, inquiry of 44 witnesses will take place on July 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 18 and 19. It is learnt that on the first day, district public prosecutor Shantibai will get the statement from Gulabi Shedthi, mother of Bhaskar Shetty and a prime witness and complainant.

The accused in this case Rajeshwari Shetty (50), wife of the deceased Bhaskar Shetty, Navaneet Shetty (20), son of Bhaskar Shetty and Niranjan Bhat (26), a resident of Nandalike are in Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru. Their inquiry will be done through video conferencing from the prison itself. Srinivas Bhat (56), the father of accused Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra (26), driver of the car, both of who are accused in the destruction of evidence, in this case, will attend the court tomorrow.

Inquiry to be completed within six months

As per information given by the investigating officer of this case, supreme court had given an order on April 23 to complete the inquiry of 36 main witnesses of the case within six months and provide bail to accused Rajeshwari Shetty.

Accordingly, district government prosecutor has to complete the inquiry of witnesses directed by the supreme court within four months in the district and sessions court and provide bail to accused Rajeshwari Shetty.
