Udupi: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal to provide special packages on account of World Vitiligo Day

Udupi, Jun 28: The Karnataka branch of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL KN) which observed the World Vitiligo Day on June 25, started a vitiligo information awareness campaign in which a vehicle (Vitiligo Ratha) would travel all across all district of Karnataka to raise awareness and eliminate any myths or disinformation among general public about vitiligo.

The vitiligo awareness programme commenced on June 25 as part of the social service of IADVL, Karnataka. Dr Mysore Venkataram, Dermatologist inaugurated the programme from the Town Hall, Bengaluru and showing the green signal to Information Drive with Vitiligo Ratha. This Ratha will provide information on Vitiligo including the reasons for occurrence. Advanced treatment modalities for vitiligo, truths and myths about vitiligo as well as other information on vitiligo will be provided to the general public.

Vitiligo Ratha reaches Manipal and Udupi on June 27 and 28. Prominent dermatologists from Udupi like Dr Subhash Kini, government hospital, Dr C Balachandran, TMA Pai Hospital and Dr Sanath Rao will be accompanying the Rath at Udupi.

“On ‘World Vitiligo Day’ Kasturba Hospital, Manipal has come up with specialist consultation free of cost and special treatment packages for one week starting from June 25 to 30,” announced Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. “Kasturba Hospital is one of the hospitals which have advanced phototherapy treatment facility,” he added.

Dr Sathish Pai B, professor and head of the department of Dermatology, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, and Dr Smitha Prabhu, associate professor were present.
