Kundapur, Jun 25: "We have started the 'Gramaspandana' programme from the holy Kshethra of Lord Gopalakrishna. Now the 'Parivartana Yatra' against the vices in this constituency will start from here itself. I will face any strong force that is going to obstruct me from stopping to put an end to gambling, drugs and spurious liquor sale. Building a healthy society is my vision," said, B M Sukumar Shetty, MLA of Byndoor legislative constituency.
He was speaking after accepting the felicitation at Uppinakudru Shri Gopalakrishna temple.
Continuing his speech thanking the gathering he said, "I have listened to the issues faced by the people of Uppinakudru. I will speak to the KSRTC depot incharge and see that the government bus service, which will be convenient to the students, is provided at the earliest."
Ramesh Karanth, president of Shri Gopalakrishna temple, felicitated the MLA and handed over the appeal, on behalf of the villgers, containing essential demands for the village of Uppinakudru.
Deepak Kumar Shetty and Balachandra Bhat, chief secretaries of BJP, Byndoor mandal, Sharath Kumar Shetty, Uppunda, president of Yuva Morcha, prominent persons of locality Krishnamoorthy Aithal, Radhakrishna Sherigar, Raghuram Shetty Tallur, Sanjeeva Devadiga, Shivananda, Ravi Ganiga Mallari and Rajiva Shetty were present.
Sadanand Uppinakudru, president, BJP Byndoor Mandal, did the introuction. Manjunath Hebbar compered the programme and rendered vote of thanks.
The villagers highlighted the issues of drinking water and appealed the MLA to provide water from Varahi river. In the appeal they also mentioned that though there are permits to several buses, no one is plying to Uppinakudru. So they requested the MLA to run government buses.
