Udupi: Woman electrocuted while switching on water pump

Udupi, Jun 20: A woman was electrocuted on Monday June 18 night when she tried to switch on the water pump set of her home.

The victim of this incident was Vanaja (53), wife of Raghu Devadiga, residing at Abbedi, Padubidri in the taluk. At around 10 pm on Monday, Vanaja went out to start the pump but did not come back for long. Puzzled at the fact that his mother did not come back into the house even after lapse of considerable time, her son searched for her and found her lying on the floor of the pump shed.

Vanaja was immediately rushed to a private hospital at Padubidri. After preliminary treatment, she was referred to Manipal hospital for high tech treatment. The doctors there, who examined Vanaja, confirmed that she had already breathed her last, police sources explained.

Vanaja was undertaking dairy and agriculture for a living. She has left behind three daughters and a son. A case of unnatural death in this connection was registered at Padubidri police station.
