Panaji, Sep 22: State police on Monday September 22 sounded red alert in the entire state, apprehending the possibility of a terror strike.
 
Inspector general of police (IGP) Kishan Kumar, in a message to all the police stations in the state, has asked them to heighten the security and vigil within their respective jurisdictions.
 
"The red alert is sounded, as we are not taking any chances and we are undertaking intense checking of all the vehicles," Samy Tavares, special officer attached to the director general of police, said.
 
Goa was considered to be on the terror radar, after Kerala police tipped-off about the northern-bound trains carrying explosives with the aim to strike Goa.
 
The state police had beefed up security around all the railway stations and Marusagar Express, which reportedly carried the explosives, was checked at Margao railway station on Monday morning thoroughly.
 
The train had arrived from Ernakulam (Kerala) and was on way to Jaipur.
 
The IGP sounded red alert on Monday morning, activating the police machinery in the state to full gear.
 
All the vehicles, especially leading towards the coastal belt, are being thoroughly checked. The security has also been tightened in crowded areas, mostly frequented by the tourists.
