Udupi, Jun 18: A workshop on Reconstructive Urology organized by Board of Education-Urological Society of India and Southern Urologists Association and department of Urology and Renal Transplant Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, was inaugurated by Dr H Vinod Bhat, vice chancellor MAHE here at Dr T M A Pai Auditorium, KMC Manipal on June 16. Dr Poornima Baliga, pro vice chancellor, MAHE was the guest of honour. Dr Aneesh Srivastava from SGPGI Lucknow and chairman, Board of Education, and Dr Ajith Vaze, president, Board of Education of the Urological Association of India, DRS Sanjay Kulkarni, Ami Lal Bhat, Ganesh Gopalkrishnan and other eminent Urologists from different parts of the country were present.
Dr H Vinod Bhat, vice chancellor MAHE said, “The emerging subspecialties in urology will offer relief to patients. Dr Poornima Baliga pro vice chancellor MAHE said, “Such live workshops contribute to improving the skill sets of surgeons and improve the awareness among the common population”.
Live Reconstructive urology procedures in children and adults were performed by Prof Dr Miroslav Djordjevic, who is one of the few Reconstructive surgeries in the world to have encompassed the treatment of anomalies of genital system. He performed various procedures with different spectrum of genital anomalies in children and adults. The event provided opportunity for delegates to watch live Proceedings and interact with experts.
The event was available for viewing to the members of Urology Society of India through Live stream Webcast. Urologists from other countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia, USA also enjoyed the proceedings and deliberations through live stream webcast.
Dr Arun Chawla, HOD, Urology and Renal Transplant stated that the department of Urology and Renal Transplant at Manipal is doing these workshop, and similar academic activities regularly for creating awareness among the medical fraternity and general population.
