Udupi, Jun 16: Department of Urology and Renal Transplant, Kasturba Hospital Manipal under the aegis of Board of Education-Urological Society of India is organizing a Live Operative Workshop on Reconstructive Urology on June 16 and 17. The workshop will be inaugurated by Dr H Vinod Bhat, vice-chancellor MAHE at Dr T M A Pai Auditorium, KMC Manipal. Dr Poornima Baliga, pro vice- chancellor, MAHE will be the guest of honour.
Prof Dr Miroslav Djordjevic who has a vast experience works in the field of reconstructive urology, and is one of the few in the world to have encompassed treatment of all anomalies of the genital system regardless of gender or age, will lead the workshop.
He is the founder and leader of the Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery specializing in sex reassignment surgery and his work has resulted in new knowledge of the surgical anatomy of the male and female genitalia. Serbia has become a centre for sex-change surgery, due to the work of Dr Djordjevic. People from India, France, Russia, Iran, United States, South Africa, Singapore and others visit Serbia for the purpose.
Dr Aneesh Srivastava from SGPGI Lucknow and chairman, Board of Education, and Dr Ajith Vaze, president, Board of Education of the Urological Association of India. Along with a number of nationally recognized faculty, DRS Sanjay Kulkarni, Ami Lal Bhat, Ganesh Gopalkrishnan, also would contribute and add their experience to this Reconstructive Urology Workshop.
Dr Arun Chawla, HOD of Urology and Renal Transplant, Kasturba Hospital, organizing chairperson of the workshop said the workshop was aimed to demonstrate the principles and techniques in different reconstructive urology procedures in children and adults by the doyens in this field. With wide ranging of cases to be operated. This event will provide opportunity for delegates to watch and interact with experts and gain proficiency in this area that needs quality skills and knowledge.
