Moodbidri, Sep 21: With the arrest of a notorious mobile thief in an operation launched by the Moodbidri, the olice hope to solve several mobile theft cases.
The police arrested Navin alias Ammi, a resident of Mudaibettu of Valpady village and confiscated several mobile sets worth about Rs 2,50,000 from him.
The thief was using one of the mobiles he had burgled, for personal use. The police followed the leads of this mobile set and took the thief into custody from the home of his wife, located near the Danashale here.
Ammi had stolen several mobiles from a shop located in the BJM Complex here, in October last. In addition to 10 new mobile sets, he had taken away several other mobile sets given to the shop for repairs, besides chargers and batteries.
The thief now faces cases pertaining to thefts of mobile sets from three shops in Karkala and three others at Shirtady. He was produced in the court on Friday September 19.
