Udupi, May 28: “We were expecting good result here from the two constituencies in the district, but we received very good overall in the assembly elections. Our next aim is to get back to power in the state. Our calculation went wrong in some constituencies due to various reasons,” said MP Shobha Karandlaje at town BJP office, Kadiyali here on Sunday, May 27.
Addressing media, she said, “B S Yeddyurappa sought support from MLAs of other parties. He was expecting them to support him based on their conscience. But it is difficult to teach lessons of conscience to Congress and JD (S) leaders. Both party leaders fought with each other. Amidst difference of opinion, their leaders got united in order to form the government.
“We have experienced how tough it was working with JD (S) in a coalition government in one of our previous tenures.
“BJP aims to win next Lok Sabha election, two assembly elections and six council elections,” she said.
The MP further remembered Vijayakumar, a leader of Sangh Parivar, who passed away during election campaigning.
Speaking on BJP’s chances in the council elections, she said, “BJP has been winning council elections since three decades. We are confident of winning all constituencies and will put the same effort to get majority votes by using social media and others mediums effectively. BJP has provided opportunity to new candidates to contest council election this time.
“There are more than 20,000 teachers and 70,000 graduates are across the state. Capt Ganesh Karnik and Ayanur Manjunath have been finalised as a candidates for Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituency respectively. Both are experienced in different fields.
“Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon and Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat deserve appreciation as they defeated former and district in-charge ministers,” she said.
District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde said, “Unfortunately, BJP failed to form government in the state. Within six months, the coalition government will fall and BJP will come back to power.”
Giving details about number of teachers and graduates enrolled in Brahmavar, Kundapur, Byndoor, Shankarnarnarayana, Manipal, Udupi, Karkala, and Kaup, Mattaru said that an additional list of teachers and graduates will come soon.
