Mangaluru, May 17: A woman died after a car which went out of the control of its driver hit a motor bike before jumping into a ten feet deep roadside gorge. In this accident, five persons suffered injuries. The accident happened near Maruti showroom near Karnad Bypass road on national highway 66 on Wednesday May 16.
The deceased has been identified as Lucy D'Souza (69) from Bantwal Modankapu. Her son, Pradeep D'Souza, his wife, Vinitha Priya D'Souza, children, Priya Jessel and Baby Philomena as well as Shivakumar from Moodabettu Udupi who was riding the motor bike, were injured.
The car in question was moving towards Udupi from Modankapu in Lorettopadavu, Bantwal when the driver lost control over the vehicle near Mulky as a result of which the car hit the rear end of the motor bike before jumping into the gorge.
Although arrangements were made to take Lucy, who suffered serious injuries, to a hospital, she breathed her last on the way report said. The injured persons were admitted into a private hospital at Mukka.
