Moodbidri, May 17: The pillion rider of a scooter who suffered grievous injuries after having been hit by a car on the night of Tuesday May 15 near Pandith Resorts at Alangaru near here and was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru breathed his last early morning on Wednesday.
Jagadish Acharya (38), a BJP worker, had taken part in the victory celebrations of the party candidate here on Tuesday. He was later travelling as pillion rider in the scooter driven by a friend, Madhukar Shetty, from the direction of Beluvai towards the town when the vehicle met with an accident.
It is learnt that the car being driven by Jerald Crasta from Taccode towards Beluvai from the town swerved to extreme right of the road and hit the scooter. Both the persons travelling by scooter fell on the road. Madhukar Shetty suffered serious injuries to his thigh, legs and hands. He was immediately taken to a private hospital here and then admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru. Jagadish Acharya sustained grave injuries right from his right thigh to the foot. He too was admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru but did not survive.
On the basis of complaint filed by Abdul Basith from Alangaru, a case was registered in the town police station here. Investigation is on.
Acharya, who was a carpenter by profession, was unmarried.
