Udupi, May 9: Srinivasa Sharma, chief secretary of district BJP Raitha morcha addressed a press meet at town BJP office, Kadiyali here on Thursday May 9. In his addressal he stated, "BJP has planned to launch a 'Pashchima Vahini Yojana' to bring about the necessary irrigation facilities for farmers of the coastal belt and drinking water required for the people of Karnataka. We will work toward welfare of farmers."
“In the previous two budgets, the yojana of Rs 1364 crore was reduced to Rs 100 crore, out of which the Congress government did not release a cent.” Dams will be built for rivers which flow westward in order to save water for irrigation, drinking and agricultural purpose. Varahi yojana will also be completed in a span of five years and we will ensure that all the farmers of Karnataka benefit from this.
"BJP’s state manifesto promises to lend loans to farmers through 1 lac co-operative society and national banks. The state’s 20 lac small farmers and farmers with barren land will be given Rs 10,000 which will be deposited into their bank accounts under Negila Yogi programme. A separate fund of Rs 5000 crore will be set aside in cases when there is difference in price.
"Many farmer friendly yojanas are established for farmer friendly departments and landless agricultural workers have been promised around Rs 2 lac farmer safety plan and accident insurance.
"A Kalian Yojana mission for reconstruction of lakes and improving irrigation facilities will be completed by 2023. We have come up with Sujalam Suphalam Yojana of Rs 1.5 crore. To take care of pumpsets for farmers we have planned to provide ten hours with three phase electricity everyday.
"For farmers’ kids who want to pursue training in agricultural activities, we shall set aside a separate fund of Rs 100 crore as part of their scholarship amount.
"Under chief minister’s agricultural fellowship, around 1000 farmers will be taken to Israel and China every year to learn about modern techniques.
"To promote export of fruits and vegetables, a KMF fund of Rs 3000 crore INR will be assigned. Cow slaughter ban of 2012 will be reintroduced.
"Milk production of currently 77 lac liter will be increased to 1 crore liter and fund for agricultural instruments will be increased.
"BJP has already released a separate manifesto stating the above mentioned points for the betterment of the farmers.
"Previously, farmers were provided loans at 2% interest which will also come into force."
