Bengaluru: MLAs disqualification case - HC asks speaker to deliver order by May 27

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 8: The state high court has disposed off an appeal filed relating to the disqualification of seven JD(S) legislators for violating party whip, by directing the assembly speaker to pronounce his order about their fate by May 27.

The single judge bench of the high court had earlier instructed the speaker to pass order in the case before May 7. The secretary in the office of the speaker, rebel legislators and chief secretary to the government had questioned this order of the single judge bench through an appeal. The vacation bench of the high court comprising Justice B Veerappa and Justice Sunil Dutt Yadav disposed off the appeal when it came before the bench on Monday.

The division bench, in deciding the case, has retained the order of the single judge bench without any modification but for extension of time given from May 7 to May 27.
