Mangaluru, May 7: Mangaluru South constituency independent candidate Srikar Prabhu announced that he would conduct a public meet at Nehru Maidan here on May 10.
Addressing the media at his election office on Monday, May 7, Srikar Prabhu said, "I will set a record in the forthcoming election. I have planned systematically this time. My election campaign is being conducted in 10 phases, and eight have already been completed.
"My campaign started on April 14 when my election office was inaugurated at Bunts Hostel. My campaign vehicle which was inaugurated on April 22 has been moving all around Mangaluru seeking votes. I filed nomination on April 23. While other parties took out a procession before filing nomination, I carried out a procession from Karavali ground to Bunts Hostel after filing my nomination.
"On April 27, I got the symbol of auto rickshaw which was distributed to auto rickshaw drivers on April 28 as part of campaigning, which was a successful event. On April 30, I released the manifesto giving priority to inaugurate and rename the Bavuta Gudda road (Light House Hill Road) to Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road. Making our city traffic chaos free was also mentioned in the manifesto.
"I have paid home visits in 19 wards. Being an independent candidate, reaching 45,000 houses is a big achievement. On May 3, a road show was conducted from Car Street which received massive support from people. On May 6, we conducted a women convention which got a lot of support from women voters. On May 9, a huge balloon will be put up at my election office building which carries my photo with my auto rickshaw symbol. To conclude my campaign, on May 10, a public meet will be conducted at Nehru Maidan, where nearly 10,000 people are expected to take part.
"People are talking about the background of BJP candidates and also questioning about the achievement of Congress, and this will be my trump card for victory. I am confident that my auto rickshaw will overtake Congress and BJP," he said.
