Puttur, May 7: Municipal councillor here, Rajesh Bannur, came down on MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, duly holding her responsible for the split in the municipality administration here. He charged the MLA of adversely affecting the people of the city and its development because of her activities.
Speaking at a press meet organized at Patrika Bhavan here on Saturday May 6, Bannur said that because of the MLA, in spite of Congress gaining majority in the municipality, dissidence raised its head and Congress could not run the municipality. He said that although BJP got majority in course of time, because of reservation criteria it could not rise to power.
He said that the city municipality received abundant grants during the period of the BJP government led by Yeddyurappa but accused the MLA of hesitating to release grants or giving administrative and technical sanction to any of the works. He said that the MLA, on account of personal differences, chose to overlook development. He also charged her with not taking any action about the dumping yard at Nekkila during the last five years and in the administration, she followed the divide and rule politics followed in the British era for the purpose of keeping officials of her choice at strategic places to have control over administration.
He said that there is shortage of staff in the municipality and requested people to choose Sanjeeva Matandoor as MLA to be able to work for the citizens of the city.
About Urimajal Rama Bhat, he said that Rama Bhat is at a high level in the Sangh Parivar and that he is in such an eminent position that it would not be possible to criticize him. He said he holds Bhat in high esteem and that Bhat's opinion is purely his personal and not of either BJP or Sangh Parivar. He felt that with the support of Bhat, BJP candidate has bright chances in the assembly election.
