Bengaluru, May 6: BJP’s chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa lost his cool at a press meet in Bengaluru Press Club on Sunday May 6, after being repeatedly grilled on BJP giving seats to the tainted Reddy brothers, his association with Janardhana Reddy and his son Vijayendra being denied the ticket.
On asking why Somashekara and Karunakara Reddy were given seats, Yeddyurappa said that they were given tickets as they will win the election. He added that Janardhana Reddy was only helping his friend Sriramulu, by campaigning for him.
When asked if Janardhana Reddy was still associated with the BJP, he asserted, "Janardhana Reddy is not a part of the BJP."
When asked whether the BJP couldn’t win without the Reddy brothers, Yeddyurappa, who started losing his cool, said, "My dear friend! For us to win the constituency, it is important to me… And we’re going to sweep the election in Ballari!"
"But he has abused you in public," a journalist said. "Where? You forget (it)! What is the people’s opinion?" Yeddyurappa replied.
He then lost his cool and yelled, "My dear friend! I’ll tell you one thing: We’re going to win, hundred and one percent. Don’t ask me the same (questions) again and again!"
Yeddyurappa further lost his cool when questioned why his son was not given the ticket. "That is left to the party! They have made him the yuva morcha state general secretary because of his popularity…" he snapped back.
Yeddyurappa stressed on the importance of winnabilitty and justified the same as the reason for not giving tickets to Muslim and Christian aspirants of the party. "Last time also, when we won 110 seats, we did not have a single Muslim candidate. It is all about winnabilitty. But when we form the cabinet, we will come up with a programme for Muslims," he said.
