Udupi, May 5: Income tax officials raided offices and residences of two contractors based at Kaup and undertook scrutiny of documents.
They raided the house and office of Vasudeva Shetty, managing director of Deviprasad Constructions and also his hotel at Kollur and office at Bengaluru. A team of about 20 income tax officials was involved with these raids. As Vasudeva Shetty was away at Mumbai, the officials collected information from his wife and office staff.
A house belonging to Kishore Kumar Gurme, contractor at Kalathur and his office at Kaup were raided by a 12-member team of income tax officials. Kishore happens to be the managing director of Brahmalingeshwara Constructions. The officials continued to verify the documents till late in the evening on Friday.
Both Vasudeva Shetty and Kishore Kumar Gurme said that they have been conducting business deals in a transparent manner and therefore there is nothing to hide. They said that they have extended full cooperation to the officials of the income tax department.
