Mangaluru: Men posing as policemen rob shopkeeper of Rs 2.25 lac

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, May 5: A few persons who made a scooterist believe that they were police personnel, succeeded in stealing Rs 2.25 lac from the person. The incident happened during the early hours of Friday May 4 at Mission Street here.

Yakub, who operates a Pan Masala shop in the city, was reportedly moving in his scooter on Friday morning when five persons travelling by a car introduced themselves as the police personnel attached to the city crime branch. They took into possession two cell phones he was having, and asked him to get seated inside a shop. They acted like scrutinizing the cell phones and also the scooter belonging to Yakub, and asked him to return, without giving back his cell phones. Yakub, after reaching home, checked his scooter and found that Rs 2.25 lac he was having with him had gone missing.

On checking CCTV footage in the area, it was found that the men posing as police personnel had taken away money from Yakub's scooter and kept it inside their car. On the basis of complaint made by Yakub, Bunder police have registered a case and begun investigation.

Nowadays it is difficult to say the police are genuine or fake. The fake ones act & sound better than the real ones. Catch & punish them!

That is 2.5 lacs not 2.5 Crores. Do you think it is lot money at this time. People have run away from India cheating banks thousands of Crores, what is your opinion about that. Pan Masala shop owner carrying 2.5 lacks surprises you, one can imagine what type of job you have.
