Kaup, May 4: MLA from Kaup constituency, Vinay Kumar Sorake, said that he evinced lot of interest in developing education, industry, tourism, road, water, housing, and development of religious centres during the last five years in his constituency, and a sum of Rs 1,700 crore had been utilized for these sectors.
He was speaking after undertaking house to house visits along with booth level office bearers of the party, and seeking votes from the people. He stated that he could achieve progress of his constituency by the strategy of visiting each village ten times and obtaining list of demands from the residents of these villages.
Sorake said that within a short span, Kaup could turn into municipality and also get the status of taluk. "33 works relating to setting up government offices etc required for the taluk headquarters have been initiated. Special emphasis has been laid on improving industries, tourism, and hotel industry in the area. This constituency has been identified as topper in the sectors of implementation of government schemes and development initiatives," he explained.
Sorake provided break up figures for various projects and schemes for which government grant had been brought with his efforts. He said that garbage disposal unit of the municipality has been set up at Alevoor and land has been set aside at Yellur and Bommarabettu for similar purpose. He stated that there is plan to set up solid waste disposal unit for every group of three gram panchayats in future. He also mentioned about Rs 48 lac provided as compensation to houses damaged by detonation of boulders for crude oil cavern at Padoor, Rs 25 crore grant by UPCL under corporate social responsibility, increase in compensation for land acquired by UPCL etc.
MLC, Ivan D'Souza, Kaup block Congress president, Navinchandra Shetty, campaign committee president, Dinesh Kotian, and a number of other leaders were present.
