Kundapur, Apr 30: "Only a 10% development has taken place in the legislative constituency of Byndoor since independence. MLAs for last four terms also have not made attempts in this direction. That is why I have entered the election fray with the aim of making Byndoor a model town," said B M Sukumar Shetty, BJP candidate for the Byndoor legislative constituency.
He was speaking at the press conference on Sunday, April 29.
Continuing his attack against former MLAs he said, "Five rivers are flowing in this constituency. However, all the 64 villages are facing drinking water shortage during summer. South bank of Varahi river has got water supply. In Byndoor, no effort is done in that direction. This constituency is still backward in the education field. In the last two decades not a single high school, pre-university or University College has been built.
"There is no big government hospital. In the hospital that is working at present, there are no doctors and proper facilities. People of Byndoor are relying on private hospitals of Kundapur. There was an opportunity to bring medical and engineering colleges and airport. Though the constituency has abundant natural wealth and beauty, no effort is made to utilise the same for tourism. This shows the utter failure of the sitting MLA.
"In the last election, I got defeated as I did not get time for organizing and canvassing before the election. I have learnt lessons from the last defeat and have strengthened the party here. There is a huge force of activists. There is no indifference in the party. Voters, especially youth are attracted by the administration and development work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I have good relationships with people of all class of the society. People are aware of my achievements as the trustee of Kollur temple and the chief administrator of good educational institutions in Kundapur. That is why I am going to win this election by a huge margin of votes," he said.
Sadananda Uppinakudru, zonal president of BJP said, "The present legislative election in the state of Karnataka is an election between 'Dharma' and 'Adharma'. People will reject the Siddaramaiah government which is ruling the state by dividing the religion."
Praveen Kumar Gurme, zonal in-charge, Deepak Kumar Shetty and Navinchandra Uppunda, eminent leaders were present.
