Bantwal, Apr 25: It is gathered that Riyaz Farangipet, who had filed nomination in the local assembly constituency as a SDPI candidate, has decided to withdraw from the elections.
Riyaz said that his party took this decision in order to defeat communal forces and to strengthen democracy.
He noted that under the current scenario, candidates representing secular parties have to become victorious in large numbers.
"The top leadership of my party believes that if the party candidate is in the fray, secular votes tend to get divided, under which circumstances, communalists will stand to gain. I am committed to the decision taken by the party," he clarified.
Announcing his decision on Facebook, Riyaz said in his post that he had tried to convince party leaders about the need to fight the election but is committed to the party's decision to withdraw nomination papers in this constituency. "This step is necessary to defeat communal forces and to protect democratic principles. I request party workers, supporters, well-wishers, friends and fans to accept this decision with total commitment and respect. If anyone is hurt by this decision I request them to consider this as a deciison taken in the interests of the safety of the community and for the protection of constitutional provisions. I wish that everyone will continue to extend to me their love, cooperation and support as before," he stated.
