Mangaluru, Apr 24: Mahila Empowerment Party (MEP) candidates P M Ahmed from Mangaluru North and Mohammed Iqbal from Mangaluru South filed their nominations for the upcoming Karnataka elections at Mangaluru City Corporation office here on Tuesday April 24.
Speaking to reporters, P M Ahmed said, "Today I have filed my nomination from Mangaluru North. I need full-fledged support from the people. My utmost priority is to help the poor and the backward classes. My main focus will be on the overall development of Mangaluru. I also want to strengthen our party in this region."
Prior to filing the nomination, P M Ahmed along with his supporters carried out a rally from Katipalla to Mangaluru City Corporation.
MEP is a party founded by Nowhera Shaik who hails from Andhra Pradesh and runs the multi-million Heera Group, a consortium of 20 companies involved in diversified activities including gold, investment, travel etc.
