Udupi, Apr 24: Congress candidate Pramod Madhwaraj on Monday, April 23 filed his nomination papers from Udupi assembly constituency. Madhwaraj, who came with his mother Manorama Madhwaraj and supporters, submitted his nomination papers to taluk election officer Kempe Gowda.

In a warm gesture, Pramod took the blessings of opponent BJP's Raghupati Bhat's mother Saraswathi by touching her feet. Bhat too had come with his mother to file his nomination.

When reporters asked him the reason behind the action, Pramod answered that culture was more important to him than politics.
