Udupi, Apr 23: To emphasize his motto to achieve harmony between different religions, Kaup MLA, Vinay Kumar Sorake, met heads of temples, churches, and mosque, besides offering prayers there before handing over his nomination papers to the authorities.
Sorake at first offered puja to Lord Manjunatheshwara at Kadri, Mangaluru and offered special puja at Nagabrahma Sthana at Padubidri. Later, he went to Lord Janardana temple at Kaup, and paid obeisance at Marigudi at Kaup. Sorake then proceeded to the mosque at Kaup Polipu where he prayed, and distributed sweets to the students there.
The MLA then visited Lord Vishwanatha temple at Katapadi and prayed at Lord Venataramana temple at Kaup. His next visit was to Udyavar church where he prayed and met the Bishop of the local diocese and invoked his blessings. He proceeded next to Basel Mission Church and offered prayer there. A number of Congress leaders accompanied him during these visits.
Later, Sorake submitted his nomination papers to electoral official, Kumuda.
Sorake revealed that both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will be visiting coastal Karnataka during this election to campaign on behalf of the party candidates. He said that emphasis of the party will be more on booth level electioneering as per its strategy. "We will also hold election campaign meetings at various places within this constituency," he explained.
Sorake was accompanied by MLC, Ivan D'Souza, Kaup block Congress president, Naveenchandra Shetty, advocate, Pangala Harish Shetty, zilla panchayat member, Wilson Rodrigues, and Congress leader,Ibrahim Manhar at the time of handing over nomination papers.
