Mangaluru, Apr 22: BJP leader Satyajith Suratkal, who was expecting BJP ticket from Mangaluru North, was left disappointed after the party decided to field Bharath Shetty from the constituency. Krishna J Palemar had openly held MP Nalin Kumar Kateel responsible for him being denied a ticket. Now Satyajith Suratkal has followed suit.
Satyajith Suratkal’s supporters held a meeting at Hosabettu on Sunday April 22 where Satyajith said, "MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is directly responsible along with leader P S Prakash. I am giving them a chance to correct their mistakes. They can do it before 10 am on April 23.
"My supporters are pressuring me to contest as an independent in the forthcoming elections. I need to know the reason for denying me the ticket. I disagree with the fact that ticket has been given based on survey results. I also do not agree that it was the decision of central ministers. I worked beside MP Nalin Kumar Kateel during the last elections," he said.
Not lobbied for ticket - Bharath Shetty
BJP’s Mangaluru North candidate Dr Bharath Shetty who was at the inauguration of Mangaluru North BJP's election office, responding to various allegations said, "I have not lobbied or appeased anyone to acquire the ticket. I have been working for the growth of the party for the past two years.
"I was given ticket due to the support of party workers. I have great amount of respect for my party leaders," he said.
