Kundapur, Apr 21: Halady Srinivas Shetty filed his nomination as the BJP candidate of Kundapur constituency on Friday, April 20. He handed over his nomination without any fanfare, accompanied by a handful of people. Known to be a very down to earth person, Halady submitted his documents to the election officer and revenue sub division officer Boobalan accompanied by leaders without rally, conference and procession.
He was accompanied by BJP Mandal president Kadur Suresh Shetty, veteran advocate T B Shetty, former taluk panchayat president Bhasker Billava Koni, Sadananda Balkur and Manju Billava Koteshwara.
Answering queries from mediapersons outside the office, he said, "I am already conducting meeting of party workers in gram panchayat level. There is satisfaction about development in all the gram panchayats. Those who are close to me said that the time between 12 pm and 1 pm is auspicious. Therefore, I submitted nomination on their suggestion. There is no criticism anywhere of having contested as independent in the past and contesting as BJP’s official candidate this time. People have appreciated my work in all the villages. There is no talk of lack of development or a list of demands for development.
"Besides Rs 500 crore received during the term as MLA for Anna Bhagya and Bhagyalaxmi programmes, Rs 493 crore was used for different projects in Kundapur. I will be requesting for votes on the basis of development works done during the pro-people administration of B S Yeddyurappa and various works of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for the country," he said.
About in-fighting in the party over tickets, he said, "Setting right differences in the party is left to the higher-ups. It is the responsibility of teachers to set right if children fight. I am confident that party leaders will set right the differences," he said.
