Mangaluru, Apr 19: Dr Jerald D’Souza, secretary of Catholic Board of Education advised principals to give importance to values and try to inculcate values in students. Value and peace education are the necessities today, he added. He was giving the felicitation message at the annual general body meeting of Federation of First grade College Principals of Mangalore University held at Milagres College.
Retired principals were felicitated on the occasion. Felicitating them the chief guest K P Vasudeva Rao, senior advocate said that the principal of a college and a general of an army never retire. They only fade in the memory of collective consciousness. A principal of a college is a flag post of discipline, decorum and dignity and the flight from the post of a lecturer to the pedestal of principal ship is not by sudden flight. It is slow stride through pragmatism and maturity. In becoming a principal, a person slowly evolves as a reformer. But the society tends to forget the pre eminent position of the principal of a college, he lamented.
Dr Carmalita Goveas, Besant Evening College,Mangalore, Prof K Mohannarayan, SDM College,Ujjire, Prof Kusuma Kamath, K, MGM College, Udupi, Dr J C Miranda, Pompei College, Aikala, and Dr Gerald Pinto, Milagres College, Kallianpur were felicitated by the guests.
Federation president Prof Samuel K Samuel gave the presidential address. Fr Micheal Santhumayor, principal of the host college welcomed the gathering and secretary of the Federation Prof Ravish Kumar rendered the vote of thanks. Prof Aruna Kamath, joint secretary compered the programme.
