Chikkamagaluru, Apr 17: A man who used to come home drunk and create trouble at home routinely was killed by his wife and children. His body was thrown down a precipice in Charmadi ghat region.
Veerabhadrachar (60), a native of Arasikere in Hassan district, was the victim of this incident. This case came out into the open with some delay. Relating to the incident, Moodigere police have arrested three persons. The arrested persons are victim's wife, Gangamma, son, Manjunathachar, and daughter, Mangala Tyagaraj.
Veerabhadrachar lived with his family in a rented home at Kannakatte in Karadihalli village, Hassan district. Veerabhadrachar, a carpenter by profession, was of late addicted to liquor. He used to consume liquor before coming home everyday and raised a din, it is said. The family members, who were fed up by his behaviour, together decided to eliminate him. They smothered him with a towel on the morning of Wednesday April 11. His body was taken to a cliff near Somanakadu in Charmadi ghat and then thrown down.
The body was found in the valley on Friday. A social worker, Muhammed Arif, had conveyed information to the police about recovery of an unidentified body. The police brought out the body with help of locals and began to search for his family members. During postmortem, they learnt that this is a case of murder. They finally succeeded in establishing the identity of the body and arresting the killers.
