Udupi: Dead man’s identity established, prime accused arrested for murder

Udupi, Apr 14: The police established the identity of a man who was found done to death with a hoe on February 10, 2018, at Vidyanagara on Achchada Road near Katapady. The prime accused of the crime has also been arrested.

Kaup police circle inspector V S Halamurthy Rao took up the case under section 302 IPC on the basis of a complaint. The deceased has been identified as Irappa Shivabasappa Kerikatte (38), son of Shivabasappa, resident of Honnahalli, Dharwad.

A special team formed including circle inspector Halamurthy to nab the suspects arrested prime accused Santhosh (28), resident of Belooru, Gulbarga district on April 13. He was produced in the court which sent him to judicial custody.

The investigating team had earlier arrested another accused Mounesh alias Mouneshwara Masthiappa (52). He too is under judicial custody.

Hrishikesh Sonvavani, assistant SP, V S Halamurthy Rao, CPI Kaup and staff Rajesh, Pravin Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Sudhaker, Sandeep, Sharanappa and driver Raghavendra Jogi and Jagadish took part in the operation under the guidance of Udupi SP Laxman B Nimbaragi and additional SP Kumarachandra.
