Udupi, Apr 10: Deputy commissioner of Udupi, Priyanka Mary Francis on Monday said that when the election Code of Conduct is in place, whoever carries cash must have proper documents of the same.

She was speaking to media persons after releasing the posters on voting awareness here on April 9. "The election commission will return seized cash amount, if the concerned person submits proper documents," she said.

So far, the election commission has registered four cases. It has seized Rs 5,87,700 in cash which had no documents. The officers seized Rs 59,000 at Nejar, Rs 70,000 at Sastan, Rs 3.65 lac in Kundapur and Rs 93,100 in Anjaru.

Over 10 FIRs were filed for violating the code of conduct. Ten excise licenses have been suspended by the Election commission.

DC further said that she will examine the CDs on voting awareness carefully, which were released recently. It may be recalled that in a CD provided to media persons, they had found a video game instead of a song on voting awareness.
