Puttur, Apr 9: It has been revealed that the businessman from Hospet who killed his young wife, made 15 pieces of her body, stuffed them into bags and disposed them off in a canal, was from Kaimana village in this taluk. Chandrahas (27), native of Anavumoole lin Kaimana village is the accused in the case. His wife, Bharati (24), was reportedly murdered after a heated argument between the couple in their home at Hospet on February 19.
Chandrahas had bagged job as assistant in a textiles shop at Hospet eight years back. He fell in love with Bharati, resident of M P Prakash Nagar in Hampi, who was also working in the same shop, and married her. In course of time, he opened his own textiles shop and hired a house in Sunnada Batti area in Hospet where the couple lived.
It is said that Bharati was insistent on February 19 that they should buy a car. After quarrel broke out on this issue between the two, Chandrahas hit his wife in the temple region, at which Bharati fell down and died instantly. Turning jittery, Chandrahas cut her body into 15 pieces, filled these pieces in four bags, and threw them in the LLC canal on railway station road, as per the confession he made to the police during questioning, it is said.
After disposing off pieces of his wife's body, Chandrahas had spread news about her disappearance. He convinced relatives against filing police complaints, and instead, to find her on their own by putting in efforts. After a few days, however, he went missing all of a sudden, after which the elder brother of Bharati filed missing complaint. The police who undertook probe found Chandrahas on April 5. During his interrogation, the truth behind his wife's disappearance came out into the open, the police said.
