Karkala, Aug 29: The office-bearers of Hebri Taluk Rachana Horata Samiti met members of the taluk re-organization committee headed by M B Prakash recently, and demanded formation of a separate Hebri taluk. The committee has as its members Chiranjeevi Singh and Shivanand with retired IAS officer Janardan Rao as its convener.
The Samiti justified its demand saying that Hebri is located far away from the existing and proposed taluk headquarters in the district. They said that Hebri has seen tremendous growth over the past few years and thus, has all the credentials for forming a taluk center.
MLA Gopal Bhadary, Samiti president Bhaskar Jois, Prasanna Ballal, former vice-president, zilla panchayat, Neere Krishna Shetty, Sukumar Muniyal, and Sanjeev Shetty,were among those present on the occasion.
