Ballari, Apr 6: The police have come to know that a man from Mangaluru who was angry at the demand for a car made by his wife, murdered her, sliced her body into 15 pieces, and threw these pieces into a canal.
Bharati (24) was allegedly murdered by her husband Chandrahas (27) from Mangaluru. The incident happened at Hospet in Ballari district.
The couple operated a clothes store in the town and resided in Sunnada Batti area.
Chandrahas and fallen in love with Bharati from Hampi Prakashnagar, and married her two years back. On February 19 this year, he had hit his wife in the temple region hard after an argument ensued about the desire of his wife to own a car. Bharati collapsed to the ground and died instantly. Startled by this development, Chandrahas made 15 pieces of her body, filled the pieces in four bags, and threw them in LLC canal on railway station road here.
Chandrahas told everyone including his in-laws that Bharati had gone missing. He also convinced people to conduct searches together instead of going to the police. He acted like searching for his wife for some days, and then disappeared. His elder brother filed missing complaint about Chandrahas in the town police station, Hospet.
The police who launched probe, found out the whereabouts of Chandrahas and questioned him. During this process,they came to know that he had killed his wife, and arrested him.
