Bantwal, Mar 29: In an incident which happened late night on Tuesday March 27 at Kerebali near Sangabettu, Siddakatte in the taluk, thieves entered a house and went back richer by Rs 11 lac as family members slept.
The house in which this theft took place happened to belong to Hasainar, who was working abroad in the past and has been driving a vehicle on hire since the last few years.
Hasainar was in deep sleep on Tuesday night along with his wife and four children, when the thieves entered the house after opening the bolt of the rear door through the rear window. They opened the cupboard inside a room in the house and took away Rs 4.5 lac in cash and 42 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs 6.5 lac.
On receiving a complaint, inspector, Prakash, rural stationhouse offier, M Prasanna, probationary IPS offier, Akshay, fingerprint and sniffer dogs unit deputy superintendent of police, Gourish and others visited the spot and collected evidence and details. Hasainar said that he had kept cash relating to chit fund transactions inside his house.
