Mangaluru, Mar 27: Media adviser to Karnataka chief minister, Dinesh Amin Mattu, reiterated that he is not interested in contesting the elections, reminding those present that he was a journalist. He stated that Abhayachandra Jain will be the Congress candidate from Moodbidri constituency.
Mattu was speaking after participating at a foundation laying stone programme for the construction of a new community hall on Monday March 26 being built at a cost of Rs 25 lac being given as grant by the government in the premises of Sri Narayanaguru Samaja Seva Sangha at Mattu in Athikaribettu gram panchayat.
Mattu said that Siddaramaiah-led government has met 158 out of 165 promises made by the party in the election manifesto prepared during 2013 election. He pointed out that several programmes like 'Indira Canteen', which were not part of the manifesto, have also been implemented, adding that another programme, 'Raita Belaku', will be implemented in April, under which people cultivating dry land will get subsidy at the rate of Rs 5,000 to 10,000 per acre.
Dinesh Amin advised the people not to build community halls alone but add facilities like library, cottage industry, gym etc so that community halls become useful. He stressed on the importance of maintaining unity at village level. Mattu said he never misused power in the last five years and that under pressure from villagers, he had got one crore rupee sanctioned to Mattu area under 'Grama Vikasa' scheme for clean water project in the village. MLA, Abhayachandra Jain, speaking after laying the foundation stone, said that under 'Pashchima /vahini' scheme, there is a plan to build a vented dam at a cost of Rs 25 crore across River Shambhavi at Mattu.
President of Narayana Guru Samaja Seva Sangha Mattu, Uday Ameen Mattu, Mulky block Congress president, Dhananjay Mattu, Mulky town panchayat member, Yogeesh Kotian, Athikaribettu panchayat president, Sharada Vasant and several other dignitaries were present. Priest, Vedamurty Mahesh Shanti, performed religious rituals.
