Bengaluru, Mar 25: In bad news for the BJP, the party's own internal surveys have revealed that the ruling Congress would end up with over a 100 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls in Karnataka, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
According to the report, since the BJP's projection of 'tainted' B S Yeddyurappa as their CM candidate has not gone down well with the electorate, the party will be more relying on aggressive campaigning led by PM Modi in the coming days.
The Congress on the other hand has countered the BJP by following the latter's strategies like Hindutva and Lingayat card effectively to some extent. The 'temple run' by the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and recommendation of separate religion tag to the Lingayat community by CM Siddaramaiah which was earlier BJP's hold has reportedly worked in favour of the Congress and it is indeed ahead in most of the seats. All this has forced the BJP party led by its president Amit Shah to reach out to religious heads of Lingayat maths.
The Congress has been getting support from the backward communities like Kurubas and the minorities too.
With the Congress tapping on every possible move to win the elections, the BJP is forced to rely on 'Brand Modi' factor, apart from than Hindutva card.
Similar pre-poll surveys too have indicated that there would be hung Assembly situation in Karnataka and no party would get simple majority in the 224-member Assembly polls which is due in two months.
