Manama, Mar 25: The Konkani community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bahrain and Konkani Kutam, Bahrain will jointly host a mega Konkani musical extravaganza titled 'Musical Fiesta' on May 17 this year from 7 pm onwards at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
'Musical Fiesta' by team O La Re… will feature renowned artistes of Konkani music world, like multiple award winner Shilpa Cutinha, Robin Sequeira, producer and singer Stephen Cutinha, Meera Crasta, and Adolf Jayathilak.
Music for the Musical Fiesta will be provided by Konkani music world's iconic music director Roshan D’Souza Angelore and team including Sanjay Rodrigues and Sanjeeth Rodrigues from Mangaluru and Deorn D’Souza from Bahrain. Comedy by Nellu Permannur will add a laughter quotient. In addition to these artistes, scores of local talents will provide wholesome entertainment to the audience.
The event is headed by Konkani community leader Henry Castelino under the guidance of newly appointed Konkani community spiritual director Fr Darel Fernandes. Henry Castelino believes this lineup of artistes is sure to draw a full house audience and such a mix of artistes is sure to cater to the music senses of audience with varied music likings.
About the Artistes
Shilpa Cutinha: The two-time Global Konkani Music award winning star voice of Mangaluru, Shilpa is a trained Hindustani vocalist and a postgraduate in social work. Her magical voice, and relentless effort is what got her nominated to the Best Female Vocalist category for four consecutive years (2013-2016) at the Annual Global Konkani Music Awards, winning this most coveted title, twice (2014, 2016).
Stephen Cutinha: A singer by passion is a versatile tenor vocalist. He has a vast realm of accomplishments to his credit, the most recent of them being winning the Best Album Award for his Konkani Album ‘O La Re’, at the Global Konkani Music Awards 2016.
Robin Sequeira: His talent at singing has won him the titles of Gulf Voice of Mangalore, the Rai Kogul of Soad-4 and the Best Male Vocalist at the Global Konkani Music Awards twice for the year 2015 and 2016, leaving it as a matter of time to achieve the rest of his successes. He is a highly sought after singer in the Konkani Music Industry.
Meera Crasta: She was the nominee for the Best Female Vocalist - 2013 at the Global Konkani Music Awards. She rendered her voice to several Konkani music albums, the Teetotalers and Off Pitch music groups, and also happens to be a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
Adolf Jayathilak: Singing has always been his passion and his love for Konkani music came naturally as he was the lead singer of the then famous band Phoenix and has toured and performed with the Konkani troupe Maand Sobhan extensively. Adolf has to his credit several beautiful songs recorded with different music directors. He released his first solo album 'Ye Mana' in 2008 followed by several other albums including Baila collection and ‘Xetam Merer’ with Lavita Lobo, Roshan and Lloyd Rego Taccode. Though belonging to a non-Konkani speaking Mangalurean community he passionately engages himself in the growth and development of Konkani Music and is hopeful that our new generation keeps the legacy alive.
Roshan D'Souza: Renowned music arranger Roshan D’Souza holds prowess as a multi-instrumentalist, has emerged as the numero uno in music composing and direction and been a game changer in the Mangalurean Konkani music industry. His talent has been awarded by the likes of several Global Konkani Music Awards, making him the pride of Konkani music. Being proactive in the music scenario, he’s been instrumental in setting up ‘Teetotalers’- a Konkani rock band, the first of its kind, and ‘Off pitch’, a Konkani acapella group.
Sanjay Rodrigues: Dubbed as ‘king keyboardist’ among professional music circles, keyboard / bass player and music producer, Sanjay, has his Diploma in Electronic Music Production from AAT College, Bengaluru. A full-time musician and producer, Sanjay is the proprietor of The Band ‘Sea 7’, and handles production at Radio Daijiworld. He has toured with some of the best artists in the country.
Sanjeeth Rodrigues: He was a quarter-finalist of India’s Got Talent - Season 7 on Colors TV, Sanjeeth holds Grade 8 certification from Trinity College, London in drums. He comes across as one of the finest, youngest and dynamic drummers in music circles and is the Educator and Proprietor at ‘Adventure - The Drum School’. He is currently pursuing post graduate studies in Counseling Psychology from School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya.
Deorn D'Souza: He comes from an Anglo Indian background from an island called Vypeen in Kerala, Deorn is a passionate bass guitarist and has been inclined towards music since school days a part of professional bands since 2002. He has been part of a Bahrain based Rock and Roll Band 'The Past Master' since 2009. Deorn has played with numerous playback singers at recordings and live shows in Konkani, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.
Entry passes for the event was launched during the Palm Sunday Konkani Mass by Fr Darel Fernandes and former parish priest Fr Freddy D’Souza in the presence visiting priest Fr Valerian Lewis, Konkani community leader Henry Castelino and Konkani Kutam Bahrain convenor Henry D'Almeida.
