Muscat, Mar 25: The Gulf Voice of Mangalore - Season 6 preliminary round of the Sultanate of Oman region will be held on Friday, May 25 at Indian Social Club Main Hall in Darsait, Ruwi.
The Mangalurean Konkani wing of the Indian Social Club, Muscat, an organization with Clarence Pinto as the convener was formed to take care of all the cultural needs of the Konkani speaking Managlureans residing in the Sultanate of Oman. On May 25, an inaugural function of the Mangalurean Konkani wing of the Indian Social Club, Muscat has been planned along with the preliminary round of the mega Konkani talent hunt singing show Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM).
The rules of the preliminary round are as follows:
1. The competition is open to all Mangalureans Konkani singers residing in the Sultanate of Oman
2. The competition is dedicated to Konkani songs chosen only from the released Mangalurean original albums (DVD/CD/cassettes)
3. Religious hymns are not allowed. Any song which devalues morals or any kind of attack on religion, person or country will not be permitted and such entry will be disqualified.
4. Interested members of the Mangaluean Konkani speaking community residing in the Sultanate of Oman should submit their applications to the nominated officials of the Mangalurean Konkani wing of the Indian Social Club, Muscat along with copies of their passport and valid residence permit, as proof of their age and residency.
5. The contestant should be 18 years of age on or before the preliminary round competition date.
6. Sultanate of Oman visit visa holders are not eligible for the competition.
7. The title holders of the previous five GVOMs will be restricted from participating in this season. The runners-up of the previous five seasons are permitted to compete for the title in this season.
8. The song can be of three minutes and a half minute grace period will be granted.
9. Only acoustic/box guitar shall be allowed during the preliminary rounds. Electronic instruments sequence/minus track shall NOT be allowed.
10. All songs should be sung in Konkani and from memory.
11. Judging criteria: The judges will take into account the special characteristics of song recital as an artistic partnership between singers and will consider the following:
a. Musicianship
b. Technical competence
c. Rapport with the audience
d. Versatility of presentation.
12. Organizers reserve the right to amend the event with prior notice in case of insufficient entries or for any other reason.
13. A panel of judges will judge the competition and their decision is final and binding.
