Mangaluru, Mar 23: A six-member gang which includes three women was taken into custody by t he personnel of city crime branch (CCB) police on Thursday March 22. The members of the gang have been charged with forcing a retired government employee to part with three lac rupees after making him believe that they would provide massage service to him.
The arrested persons have been identified as Preetesh (36) resident of Jail Road here, Ravi (35) from Kalasa in Chikkamagaluru district, Ramesh (35) from Shaktinagara here, and three women.
The accused had talked to a resident of Maryhill here, who is a retired government servant, into believing that they could arrange massage for him by women. He was introduced to a woman in Derebail and he was sent to her home on March 20. Once he reached there, three unidentified young men suddenly entered the house, forced the person to remove his clothes and took video clip and photograph of the man in the company of women. They reportedly blackmailed him by demanding payment of three lac rupees in order not to harm his reputation. The man, who was in shock at this sudden development, agreed to pay money and transferred three lac rupees to the bank account of one of the accused, Ravi, it is learnt.
A few days thereafter, the accused again placed demand for more money. They are said to have threatened to post the man's photos in the company of girls in Whatsapp, Facebook and other social websites. The man, who was now determined to stem the rot, remained unmoved and complained to Kavoor police.
The CCB police, who took up the case, succeeded in unearthing the racket. CCB inspector, Shantaram, police sub-inspectors, Shyamsundar, Kabbalraj and other staff took part in the operation.
