Bengaluru, Mar 22: A 37-year-old woman allegedly hacked her husband to death with a machete and later misled the police investigation in order to hide the crime.
The accused identified as Uma J, allegedly killed her husband Ganesh C (48) at their residence in Panchasheela Layout in Vijayanagar police station limits on January 17.
She reported the crime to the police on January 21 and said that her husband who worked as real estate agent was killed by unidentified men, while she was at her parents’ house in Shivamogga.
The forensic report stated that the death took place three days before it was reported and the Vijayanagar police who were investigating the case found that Uma was in Bengaluru at the time. She was interrogated after which she confessed to the crime.
According to the police, Uma killed Ganesh after a fight and left to her parent’s house in Shivamogga, along with her son who is a minor.
She also took the machete used for killing and the blood stained clothes with her. She narrated the entire episode to her father K Raju, who helped her destroy the evidence.
She returned to Bengaluru on January 21, and pretended as if the murder happened during her absence.
Police have taken Uma’s father Raju and her minor son into custody and are interrogating them to establish their role in the murder.
