Mangaluru, Mar 18: Former city mayor, Kavitha Sanil, has been in New Delhi since the last some days, it is gathered. She has been trying hard to secure ticket of the party for the assembly election from Mulky-Moodbidri constituency. She has been meeting senior leaders of the party to convince them about her suitability for this ticket.
Sanil has been telling the leaders that she will withdraw if current MLA, Abhayachandra Jain, is fielded by the party again from this constituency. She says that if Jain does not want to contest, then she expects the party to issue ticket to her.
Jain has said in the past that he has decided against contesting the election again, and had lobbied for the issuance of the ticket to district youth Congress president, Mithun Rai. MLC, Ivan D'Souza, has already expressed himself as a strong contender for the ticket from this constituency. It may be recalled that when MLA, Moideen Bava, had introduced Kavitha Sanil to minister, M R Seetharam, recently as an aspirant of ticket from Moodbidri constituency, Jain had got wild and the two MLAs had almost come to blows.
Kavitha seems hell bent on procuring party ticket. It will be interesting now as to what decision the party will take on her request.
Kavitha Sanil was made All India Congress Committee (AICC) member recently and has been in New Delhi to attend the party meeting.
