Udupi, Mar 16: Sujith Shetty, Udupi home guard employed in Shirva police station has been suspended with immediate effect after selfies clicked by him with several girls went viral in social media.
Sujith Shetty faced widespread criticism on social media for his selfies with the girls. The home commandant, taking note of the incident, issued an order to suspend Sujith.
A resident of Manjarapalke, Belman in Karkala taluk, Sujith Shetty has been employed in Padubidri unit of home guards for the last one-and-a-half years. He was deployed in Shirva police station a few months ago. He initially started working on night shifts and was working on day shifts also from sometime.
His selfies with nearly eleven girls have gone viral in social networks. However, Shirva police said that no complaint has been received against him so far. He is likely to be questioned in Kaup police station.
"The suspension will be in force till details of the selfies in the social media are gathered and suitable investigations are held. Investigations will also be held later after obtaining information about him in Padubidri unit. Action will be taken against him if he is found guilty," said home guards Udupi district commandant Dr K Prakash Shetty.
