Bengaluru, Mar 16: At a time when annual SSLC and PU examinations are on, principal secretary in the department of primary and secondary education, Dr Shalini Rajneesh, has proceeded on long leave. This development has given rise to surprise and discussions among administrative circles.

There had been lack of coordination between the principal secretary and minister, Tanveer Sait, in the matter of teachers transfer. In this background, the minister had personally written to the chief minister to transfer her. Dr Shalini has proceeded on long leave after this incident, giving rise to speculation that some serious developments would have taken place, particularly so because of its timing.

On February 24 this year, Tanveer had written to the chief minister asking him to transfer Dr Shalini Rajneesh in the interests of the public as well as administration and give additional responsibility of his department to Ajai Sait, additional chief secretary of health and family welfare department, who was earlier working in the education department. The government however, has not acted on this recommendation so far.

Since Dr Shalini was transferred to this department, lack of coordination between her and minister Tanveer Sait were evident and in several meetings, this issue came to the fore. The issue became public knowledge on the issue of teachers transfer.
