Kundapur, Mar 15: BJP has benefitted by no confidence motion against the president in Beejoor gram panchayat, Byndoor. There are nine BJP supported and nine Congress supported members in Beejoor panchayat with a total strength of 18 members. BJP supported Lolakshi Devadiga was serving as the president since the last thirty months. Congress supported members recently decided for no confidence motion. The meeting regarding the same was held at Beejoor gram panchayat on March 13.
Howeve, Congress supported members remained absent in the meeting chaired by assistant commissioner. As those members who tabled no confidence were not present, it was decided to continue with the present president. Meanwhile, Congress supported Laxmi Charkodlu and Laxmi Kulal joined BJP. Therefore, Congress faced the setback.
BJP supporters celebrated cracking fireworks. President Lolakshi Devadiga said that being the president, she treats everybody as equal. “Congress party which could not digest it did like this and lost.”
Laxmi Charkodlu and Laxmi Kulal who were identified in BJP were welcomed by BJP state executive member B A Sukumar Shetty to the party. B M Sukumar Shetty said that Lolakshi Devadiga has provided good administration during the last thirty months. “Those who could not digest it announced no confidence. BJP is strengthened with another two members. Beejoor should be free from Congress during the coming days,” he said.
BJP Byndoor president Sadananda Uppinakudru said that Hosangadi gram panchayat has come under BJP recently. “Therefore, there were attempts to bring Beejoor under Congress rule. The attempts toppled and BJP gained,” he said.
Gram panchayat president Lolakshi Devadiga, BJP chief secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty, Balachandra Bhat, Mahila morcha president Priyadarshini, backward class morcha chief secretary Ravi Ganiga, Navinchandra Uppunda, Gururaja Gantihole and others were present.
