Mangaluru, Mar 13: Jane D’Souza, an active member of Dakshina Kannada Philatelic and Numismatic Association, exhibited her philatelic collection on ‘Women Achievers’ as part of Women's Day at head post office Pandeshwar recently.
Jane D’Souza was into philatelic collections since her childhood and has been collecting stamps since 30 years. On the eve of Women's Day, Jane D’Souza exhibited over 300 stamps, miniature sheets, first day covers and special day covers.
She has wide collections of stamps comprising of Indian women of substance including categories such as general, women families, homemakers, various professions, sports, music and arts. Her collection also has women achievers in different walks of politics, freedom fighters, saints, arts, music and education.
She has in her possession even the first stamp issued by the postal department after independence on women in the year 1952 on Meera Bai. Jane D’Souza has earlier exhibited her philatelic collection at several places and also bagged state level awards for Kuwait collections.
